Just to add, the d40s sensor takes advancement of the sweet spot in all 35mm lens' so if you do see a cheap assorted brand marked prime for below $20, its a game, but for $11 i rolled the dice and was very very delight. That said, if you eventually plan on getting a 70-200 ƒ/2.8 and upright want something to hold you over till then, then look for a $20 lens, if you down on just finding something and sticking with it, then look into either the 180 AF-D fersion, ($400) or an 80-200 zoom ($500). all these prices reshape, it helps if you check KEH daily and if you look at their arriving inventory. hope that all helps, Mike.
